Dr. Aytekin Akyol graduated from the Hacettepe University School of Medicine in 1997. He completed his residency programme in Anatomical Pathology at the Hacettepe University Department of Pathology in 2002. He did his postdoctoral studies between 2002-2007 at the Eric R. Fearon's Laboratory in University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. Then, he joined Hacettepe University Department of Pathology in December 2007 as an instructor. He was appointed as Associate Professor of Pathology in 2012 at the Hacettepe University Pathology Department. He has more than 15 peer reviewed publications in internationally high ranking journals e.g. Nature Methods, Cancer Cell, Cancer Research and Gastroenterology. His projects are supported by TUBITAK and the Ministry of Development. He was awarded the TUBA-GEBIP (TUBITAK Young Researcher Award) in 2010. He also established Transgenic Animal Facility in Hacettepe University and produced knock-out mice models by CRISPR/Cas9 technology in this Center. He is currently a member of Ankara Pathology Society and the International Society for Transgenic Technologies (ISTT).

Dr. Alpaslan Alp graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1992. He completed his specialty education at the Department of Medical Microbiology of Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1998. He worked at the Department of Infectious Diseases of University of California, San Francisco, USA, about the drug resistance in tuberculosis in 1996. He worked at the Center for Tuberculosis Research in the Division of Infectious Diseases of Johns Hopkins University, USA, in 2013-2014. He is the director of Clinical Pathology Laboratory of Hacettepe University Hospitals since 2016. His professional interests include applications of molecular microbiological methods and microbiology of tuberculosis.

Dr. Seçil Demirkol graduated from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Bilkent University in 2012. She then gained her PhD degree in the same department under the supervision of Dr. Ali Osmay Güre in 2018. After a short post-doc in Güre lab, she joined Molecular Pathology Research and Application Center at Hacettepe University in May 2018. Her current research interests are molecular biomarkers of prognosis and treatment response in cancer.

Dr. Omer Dizdar graduated from Hacettepe University School of Medicine in 2000, completed his residency in Internal Medicine in 2005 and Medical Oncology fellowship in 2009. He gained master’s degree in Cancer Epidemiology in 2017. He received Turkish Society of Medical Oncology - Best Medical Oncology Research Award in 2012 and 2018. He is still working in Hacettepe University Cancer Institute as a medical oncologist. He is a member of European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (ENETS). Main areas of interest are breast cancer and gastrointestinal cancer.

Dr. Gaye Guler Tezel graduated from Ankara Ataturk High School and Gazi University School of Medicine. She completed residency training in pathology at the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2001. She then earned her Ph.D. degree in molecular pathology at Nagoya University Faculty of Medicine in Japan. She was appointed as associate professor in 2006, as professor in 2011. Fields of interest are head&neck pathology, endocrine pathology and molecular pathology. She has been working for Turkish Federation of Pathology Societies in many facilities including Molecular pathology and Endocrine pathology working group. She served as president in Endocrine and Molecular Pathology working group of the Turkish Federation of Pathology. Dr. Tezel has focused on carcinogenetic pathways and possible targeted therapy molecules such as KRAS, NRAS, BRAF, and EGFR.

Dr. Ayşegül Üner graduated from Ege University Medical School in 1987. She then earned her Ph.D degree in Microbiology and Immunology at SUNY-HSC in Syracuse in 1992. She completed her residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and subspecialty training in Hematopathology in the Department of Pathology at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. She joined Hacettepe University in 1997 and currently has a joint appointment at the Cancer Institute and the Department of Pathology in the Medical Faculty. She is the recipient of Research Encouragement Award, by TÜBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) in 2001 and Hacettepe Science Award.
